Curriculum Vitae and list of publications
Margarethe Szeless has a doctorate in art history, has worked in the archive of the Vienna Secession, curated and conducted research for the Wien Museum and is a lecturer in the history of photography at the University of Vienna's Department of Art History. From 2014 to 2017, she led the FWF-funded research project "War of Pictures. Pressefotografie in Österreich 1945-1955" under the direction of Prof. Friedrich Hausjell. In an accompanying science communication project, Margarethe Szeless and Marion Krammer designed the online exhibition: War of Pictures. Image Culture in Austria 1945–1955. From 2023 to 2027, she will head (together with Marion Krammer) the FWF project "Visual Public Sphere in National Socialism". In addition to her research activities, since 2013 Margarethe Szeless has been running the research agency wesearch.agentur für geschichte und kommunikation together with Marion Krammer.
