A Monography

Project Team: Univ.-Prof. Dr. Bertrand Perz / Dr. Andreas Kranebitter (Scientific Director of the     Documentation Centre of Austrian Resistance, DÖW)
Funding: Zukunftsfonds der Republik Österreich, Nationalfonds der Republik Österreich, Land Niederösterreich, Land Oberösterreich
Duration: 2022-2025

The last comprehensive accounts of the history of the Mauthausen concentration camp were published decades ago and are now outdated given the enormous developments in the field of concentration camp research. The aim of this project is to produce a new monograph on the history of the Mauthausen concentration camp based on the current state of research. This will include the "Stammlager" (main camp) of Mauthausen, established in the summer of 1938, the Gusen concentration camp, established in 1940, and around 40 subcamps.

Project objective

Creation of a concise monograph aimed at a broad audience. The publication should appear in at least a German and English edition. Further foreign-language editions are desirable.
