Carola Sachse, Dr. phil., is a historian and has been a university professor at the University of Vienna's Department of Contemporary History since 2004; she retired in 2016. She has led numerous projects, including the Max Planck Society research programme on the "History of the Kaiser Wilhelm Society in the National Socialist Era" from 2000 to 2004. She has published on corporate and gender history in the 20th century, as well as on the relationship between science and politics in National Socialism and the Cold War. She is currently a guest scientist at the Max Planck Institute for the History of Science in Berlin. Her new research project investigates the history of knowledge, culture and relationships between oysters and people.
